My parents started me on swimming and piano classes about 2 months ago:
Swimming: I enjoy the swimming lessons (at Clementi public pool) as my instructor (uncle Rand) is a nice person and acts like a child. So far, I have had 4 lessons but I still do not know how to swim yet. Tell you a secret: last week, my papa was slightly upset that I did not have the chance to swim much during the one-hour session. As I see it, the 'problems' are as follows:
- uncle Rand is coaching about 6 other more experienced kids together with me (they wear pyjamas to swim!); as such his attention is naturally divided
- when uncle Rand is coaching me, 2 of the students always interrupt and distract him by clinging to him (and uncle Rand entertains and humour them!)
The result is that I do not get quality time from uncle Rand. I think last Tuesday's session was the worst so far - I only practised for 20 minutes out of the one-hour session. The rest of the time, I was quietly sitting by the side of the pool, watching other people in action (actually, I do feel a little silly, cold and left out, sob....sob).
I think my papa may voice out his concerns to uncle Rand next week.....
Piano: I am learning piano in a small music studio near my Bukit Merah flat and my teacher is uncle Alvin. His voice is very LOUDDDDD and he likes to say "WONDERFUL!......FANTASTIC!......." and counts "ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR..." with much gusto. He also gives me stickers every week (my favourite part of the 45-minute session). After each lesson, he will 'talk' to my papa. I overheard him say things like 'he is learning very well.......let him practise more, short sessions with greater frequency....he must improve on his sitting posture, bend his fingers, cut his nails....'.
Somehow, I do not like to practise - papa and mama always need to nag alot before I sit in front of the piano.
I prefer swimming to piano. In fact, before the session yesterday, I was asking my papa if the piano lesson would be cancelled if there is heavy rain [papa looked at me with a poker face and said no, not even thunderstorm nor flooding as the session is held indoors].
Note: you see, my swimming lesson was cancelled once last month due to rain.....I was very sad.... Last week, when my piano class was cancelled as uncle Alvin was busy, I was on cloud nine!!
